Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. The only problem is, if a student doesn’t master reading and gain the proper level of confidence early on, it can become a lifelong chore and something to be avoided. At C2, we work with our students at all levels to improve and broaden their reading skills.
Here’s what we offer our students at different grade levels:
High School. C2 helps our students build the requisite verbal tools to handle complex readings, recognize advanced literary themes and thoughtfully express their opinions in writing. We also gear our vocabulary and other exercises toward improving SAT performance.
Middle School. C2 builds upon and expands children’s comprehension abilities. Our teachers promote strong vocabulary skills and advanced literary analysis. Students learn how to apply critical reading and inferential techniques to a variety of subjects, including social studies, the sciences and language arts.
Elementary School. C2’s elementary reading instruction is comprised of units that focus on recognizing phonics, building vocabulary and improving comprehension. As your child acquires these necessary verbal skills, C2’s programs will shift to incorporate more critical and context-based strategies.
