UT Austin Tuition-Free Program Expands for Fall 2025
C2 Education Carrollton Helps Students Qualify and Compete to get into UT Austin
College just got more affordable for Texas families — especially those in Carrollton, Lewisville ISD, and the greater Dallas area. Starting in Fall 2025, the University of Texas at Austin is expanding its Texas Advance Commitment (TAC) program, allowing more students to attend tuition-free.
What’s Changing?
The UT System Board of Regents has increased the income threshold for free tuition from $65,000 to $100,000. This means Texas students whose families earn up to $100,000 annually can now qualify for free tuition at UT Austin.
More than 3,000 additional students will benefit starting Fall 2025. Currently, about 14,500 UT undergraduates — nearly one-third of the student population — already receive free or reduced tuition under TAC and other financial aid programs.
Families may also qualify for a housing affordability scholarship of up to $2,300 per year, covering some of the cost of living on or near campus.
What This Means for Carrollton and LISD Families
As one of the top public universities in the country, UT Austin admissions are highly competitive. While affordability is increasing, the competition for spots at UT is only getting tougher — especially in top programs like engineering, business, and computer science.
That’s where C2 Education Carrollton comes in. We help students in Carrollton, Lewisville ISD, Hebron High School, Creekview High School, and surrounding schools stand out in the admissions process.
